June was a busy travel month for me. As I blogged then, I got to see the space shuttle launch and hang with friends in Central FL before Microsoft TechEd for Developers in Orlando. In mid June, I went to Chicago for a semi-vacation because I’d never been there before. I also attended eBay Live, a conference for eBay sellers. I stayed near Michigan Avenue and got to sample a bit of urban living. I enjoyed the convenience of having lots to do within walking distance: Sears Tower, Lake Michigan, Art Institute of Chicago. I didn’t have enough time really. A highlight for me was hearing Seth Godin speak live and challenging us live out our passion and let everything else flow from there.
For Independence Day, a friend invited me to watch the Nashville Fireworks from the roof of his place which turned out to be quite impressive and a wonderful view of the festivities. I suppose I’m becoming a bit of an enigma, enjoying the rugged backcountry, peaceful and quiet country living, and finer urban living (I still hate the burbs).
And I’m preparing the house to do more of what I intended, entertaining small groups of friends.
Look for more detail on these activities forthcoming in a new blog, dedicated to more personal pursuits, coming soon.
I’m rambling, but all of that to say, I haven’t exactly spent a lot of time in the backcountry lately. But I’m needing a fix. Any suggestions about where to go in Middle Tennessee?

And I want to note an extremely eloquent post by Meg at Megaphone on Christians and the Environment. Well said Meg!

Welcome everyone to WildrLog 2.0, now running on WordPress. I hope you like the new look and feel and I am confident that the WordPress platform will provide plenty of opportunity for improvement.
As of right now, here are things I’m still working on:
- Migrating Galleries
- Migrating File Attachments to Posts
- Amazon Lists
- Advertising
- Sitemaps
- Category and Archive links
Everything else should be working. Let me know if there’s something else antigogglin’.

Yes, I know. Bryan attends the digital life thinktank LifeWork 2.0, makes lots of new friends who then come view his blog only to find the last post is over a month old. Yes, I know… cardinal sin… I’m repenting. WildrLog is undergoing a transformation of sorts as I’m going to be hosting my own installation of Wordpress. I’m hoping to debut WildrLog 2.0 next week some time. Hang in there with me. And for all my new friends, check out my about page for links to my myspace, facebook, twitter, and linked in profiles.

I’ve been rather infrequent in posting lately, so I thought I’d get you caught up on what has been capturing my attention lately.
- It’s been darn hot around here. It’s October 7 and today’s high was 93 degrees. It’s like August around here. Speaking of August, the average high temperature for last August was 99 degrees. Not very conducive to hiking, though I did take a trip down the Ocoee River at the end of August
- I’ve been long contemplating some changes in my life and have been diving more and more into those, thus taking away some of my hiking time. I hope to be announcing something in the coming months.
- Who knew owning a home was another full time job?
- When I have gotten outside, I’ve usually gone to places close by and long since logged here at Wildrlog.
So there you have it. I hope to be seeing you on the trail more this fall… if it ever comes.

I’ve been very behind on posting lately. Here’s what I’ve been up to this summer:
And I finally bit the bullet and started a profile on the ad-infested myspace.com so I can network with other folks that like the wilderness and keep track of some of my friends.

I got notice today that WildrLog has won an award from Award-Winning Tennessee Bloggers in the Best Middle Tennessee Blog and Best Sports and Recreation Coverage categories. Thanks to Lynette and Jim for the award and link. I’m honored that I would be considered. Head on over and find some other great Tennessee Blogs.
Obviously, someone with excellent taste must have recognized WildrLog’s value and nominated me… Oh, alright, so I nominated myself. But honestly, I didn’t expect to receive an award. Thanks again!
